Smith Newspapers, Inc. (SNI) was founded by Ben M. Smith in 1973 and set up in Fort Payne, a small town in north Alabama. Since its founding, SNI has owned dozens of daily and weekly newspapers all over the country. Over the years, SNI evolved and began consulting and managing other newspapers, in addition to their own. Now overseen by Ben's son, David L. Smith, SNI is a multi-generational family company that has its roots in small towns and sees its future in small towns, too.
The landscape is different now than it was in 1973 when SNI began. As our industry has evolved, so have the needs of businesses all around us. We saw that our advertisers needed more, and we knew we could give them, and small-town businesses everywhere, more, so SNI Creative was established.
We know life and business in a small town is different. Since 1973, our people have made an impact in more than 100 small towns across America. We listen to you, build relationships, and help you get to where you want to be, but we do it without the pomp and circumstance (and expense) of big-city agencies. That's not who we are.
Our team consists of talented individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience. Collectively, our award-winning people bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with them, and they want to put it to use for the people who really need it.
Not every business and community are the same. We don't present you with a templated plan that we created for another business "like yours." We learn about you - your business, team, and community. And whether it's branding, digital marketing, social media marketing, or something else entirely, our team works together to create your specially-designed plan that achieves the objectives on a realistic budget.
It works because of who we are and how we believe business should be conducted. We believe:
